DESIGN DEVELOPMENT FOR MANUFACTURING

Design for manufacturability, regulatory approvals, and risk management expertise to support your product from concept to commercialization

Design Development and Support

Introducing a new automated solution can be challenging, especially when you are short on resources and experience to incorporate the latest technologies. This is where the ATS REM design support team can help commercialize your concept and innovative solutions yielding high equipment performance.

ATS REM has extensive experience collaborating with customers to ensure we capture your technical scope and requirements.

Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA)

Throughout the design process we focus on DFMA methodology (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) ensuring your product will be produced with the most economical component choices, without sacrificing performance and functionality, while delivering on the shortest schedule possible.

Scope & Technical Risk

Risk Management

Throughout the design process we mitigate risk through a rigorous process called Concept Technical Risk Assessment (CTRA) which ensures risks are identified during the proposed concept. We further strengthen our risk mitigation efforts by aligning your scope to the technical risks.

One of the key processes used by our teams to help mitigate this risk is the use of experimentation or proof of principal (POP) testing. POP testing is used throughout the project lifecycle and provides a project with many benefits:

1

A solid understanding of the customer’s process requirements

2

Identification of major process risks and possible solutions or mitigation strategies

3

A tool to evaluate possible designs and establish process capabilities on chosen solutions

4

Mitigation of schedule risk by verifying performance of production hardware prior to final equipment integration

Safety Risk

In parallel, we go beyond assessing technical risk and consider the machine’s safety risk to design out hazards. When a machine safety risk assessment is performed, the appropriate documentation can be obtained for regulatory purposes.

  • Functional safety design file
  • SISTEMA report
  • RoHS / Reach reporting
  • Develop and conduct testing through the product lifecycle
  • Manage, maintain and host audit of the manufacturing procedure

Regulatory Approvals

Introducing your product into various global regions may require regulatory approvals. ATS REM is there to support you with regulatory challenges providing services to ensure your product is registered with the appropriate agencies.
